Christmas Magic – Merry and Bright

The year of 2023 was brought to a warm end in St. Joseph’s Convent Higher Secondary School, with a Christmas Celebration on 23rd December. All the teaching as well as non- teaching staff members were a part of the celebration which began on the cool morning,on the assembly ground. The ornately decorated school stage excited everyone into the Christmas mood. The assembly prayer was conducted by the students of class XI, each ofwhom brought a kind message for the day. The prayer was ended by the school principal,Sister Navya CSJ, with a stress and hope on the earliest possible settlement of the Israel-Palestine Conflict. As is the tradition, the reenactment of the Nativity scene began with the synchronized narration of the event. Young Christian boys and girls from Class V to IX performed on stage in various key roles pertaining to the Birth of Lord Jesus Christ, Gloria Annunciation by the angels, Visitation of the Three Wise Kings of Orient and the Christmas Message of Peace for the year. It was a delightful thing for the audience, both young and old, to revisit the events which took place over two thousand years ago. The entire stage event was interlaced with soothing instrumental music, themed on Christmas. Backstage, students also provided playback voiceover for the characters on stage.
Inter-house Christmas Carol singing competition, followed thereafter, added to the excitement. It was a first, for every child of the school to be a part of the celebration. Students of the Gandhi House gave a memorable rendition of ‘Mary did you know’, Aurobindo House chimed in with ‘Its Christmas, its Christmas’ and ended their performance with a cute dance. Radhakrishnan House chorused to the hymn of ‘Gloria! In excelsis Deo’ and the House of Tagore sang ‘Joy to the World’ and ‘Jingle Bells’. The competition was neck to neck but there could be only one winner. It was the Radhakrishnan House which bagged the first prize. The Carol singing was followed by a Christmas-themed Fusion dance by selected students from high school. Best for the last, the celebration proceeded towards the most anticipated personality of the day, Father Christmas, lovingly known as Santa Claus. This year, Santa made a grand entry on a Bullet motor bike, leaving everyone awestruck. The children were thrilled, seeing their Christmas hero distributing sweets and love to everyone. The pretty smiles and cherishable memories of the year 2023, became the essence of the last day before a relaxing Christmas vacation of over ten days. On a final note of words, the school principal thanked the entire team behind the successful event. Additionally, it was mentioned that although the year may have ended, it gave hope and strength of a better tomorrow in the new year of 2024.
